GIVE VOICE TO ROJAVA! We will not stop defending Rojava, the hope of the peoples to live together

Statement by the Mesopotamian Ecology Movement
Rojava, which is being built as a democratic, ecological and women’s libertarian model of life in the Middle East, is once again facing the danger of occupation. The life built in Rojava with the joint struggle of peoples, women and youth in the middle of the war, while giving hope to all the peoples of the world, is subjected to continuous attacks by the occupying forces.
In addition to the crimes against humanity, the damage caused by war to the environment makes recovery even more difficult. In particular, military operations have led to the destruction of infrastructure, deforestation and the loss of agricultural land. This denies the population access to basic amenities and has led to a major humanitarian crisis in the region.
Turkey’s use of water as a weapon through its dam policies has deepened the water crisis in Rojava. The cut- off of water from the Firat and Tigris rivers has condemned agricultural lands to drought and severely limited the availability of drinking water. People have to travel many kilometers to access clean water, creating both a physical and economic burden.
The environmental destruction of the war did not stop there; the use of chemical weapons and intensive bombardments poisoned the soils in the region, irreversibly disrupting the ecosystem. Especially in the regions of Cizirê, Kobanê and Afrin, the contamination of soils and water assets has made agricultural production almost impossible. In addition, oil refineries and heavy industrial plants, which have been placed in the region to continue the war, pollute the air, soil and water, affecting the continuity of life in many ways.
The Rojava Revolution is giving hope to the peoples, and nurturing a democratic, ecological and women’s liberation based society.
The attacks, occupation policy and military shipments against the peoples and nature of Rojava and North- East Syria, which have been carried out for nearly three weeks under the pretext of security concerns, must end immediately. The oppression of the peoples living in the region must come to an end and steps must be taken swiftly towards the establishment of a democratic dialogue and peace that will solve the problems.
We stand with the people of Rojava who have not given up on peace and democracy in the face of all these invasions and attacks and have been struggling for years. We invite everyone who defends the equal and free coexistence of peoples and struggles for an ecological democratic society to speak out for Rojava.
As ecology organizations, we are going to the vigil in Mardin-Nusaybin on 5 JANUARY to reiterate our promise of peace.
ROJAVA IS OUR HONOR!
