Activity Report of the Citizens’ Committee of Milton Parc (2019-20)

Below we reproduce the annual report for 2019-2020 of the Citizens’ Committee of Milton Parc (CCMP). The CCMP is a municipalist initiative that strives to encourage and help create grassroots democracy and collective autonomy. It was born in the fight of Milton Parc‘s inhabitants to save their neighborhood from capitalist speculation. The result of this fight and grassroots activity is one of the most remarkable contemporary examples of the right to the city – the neighborhood of Milton Parc, situated at the heart of Montreal, is now the largest nonprofit cooperative housing projects in North America, consisting of 642 housing units with over a thousand residents being democratic participants in the project.
